Law of A(ttra)CTION –
A True Game Changer
By: Kirk Noles
Sooooo… I may or may not have missed the last month, or two, of my ‘Thoughts From the Owner’ blog, but I have good reason. By reason I mean excuse, and by excuse I mean I should have done it!
The title of this blog, Law of Attraction – with the emphasis on ACTION, is something I highly believe in and have implemented in my business over the last 6 months.
Taking a step back and looking over the last half year at EMW, we have gone through some drastic changes. Most of these changes heavily reside on my shoulders. I really had to take a step back and re-evaluate who we were as a business, who I was as a leader, and the culture I was creating at my company.
I quickly realized that I spent an entire year trying to be, and create a business that was, something totally out of my character and outside of the direction that I truly wanted to head, in my life and for my company. I was wearing a freakin’ suit everyday for crying out loud!
I made one of the worst mistakes you can make in business, and in life for that matter, and started looking around me to see what other people and businesses were doing. DON’T DO THAT! I was more concerned with keeping up with the “competition” than I was doing what I had set out to do, and more importantly, doing what I loved.
I came to a crossroads about half-way through last year. I had created a good job… that I wasn’t happy or passionate about. I had to make a change.
Gamechanger
In August of last year, I read “6 Months to 6 Figures” by Peter Voogd, and it was a complete game changer. Peter completely shifted my perspective on everything I thought I new about myself and my business. I wasn’t living the life I set out to create for myself. I wasn’t passionate anymore. I had become complacent and satisfied with where I was at in life.
Over the next few weeks I started taking strategic action, and implementing the practices outlined by Peter in his book. I started digging into everything I could get my hands on that Peter had put out, and even reached out to Peter personally.
Starting September 1st of 2016, I joined Peter’s Gamechanger Academy, and took on Peter as a personal business coach and mentor. I learned that day that investing in myself was the best investment I could make!
Implementing a course of action, and a true vision that was congruent with my goals was paramount. I learned that before I could ever develop a culture in my business that was in line with my vision, I had to be completely and brutally honest with myself. That definitely meant making some hard decisions, decisions that were more than uncomfortable. One thing I have learned in this process is to become comfortable being uncomfortable, and to quit pleasing people. If you know me, you know that was like having open heart surgery.
I ditched the suits, I lost and parted ways with clients, employees, and some friends. At the end of the day it was the best decision I have ever made.
Action and Results
Needless to say, the past 6 months have been, by far, the best 6 months that my company has ever had. December and January have been the best months my business has ever had. The employees and interns are the best crew that has ever worked here, and they are all visionaries and future leaders who understand the vision and culture of this company. I have personally been more productive, passionate, and fulfilled with my company than I have ever been. Once I became truly honest with myself, implemented a clear vision, and took strategic and massive action toward that vision, amazing things started to happen. Funny how that works.
In my opinion, the Law of Attraction really works. But it only works if it is followed by the Law of Action. Laying out a clear vision and game plan is a great starting point. Taking massive action toward that goal is where the sweet spot truly is!
So, as you can see, we have been a little busy for the last few months. So there’s my excuse for not having a blog done!
