Coffee + Channels 3
By: Molly Batura
Is it already my third week with you?! How lovely! Getting to share my life with you guys has become one of my favorite weekly to-dos!
So what’s up this week? Well…spring break is in a few days so it seems as though the days are moving a bit slower than usual. At the same time, I’m still shocked its Thursday. That being said, if anyone figures out what’s going on with my sense of time, you know where to find me!
Like I said, spring break is upon us!! I can practically smell the week full of freedom! No homework, no classes, no work (because I jumpstarted, heck yeah!), and no all-nighters full of studying. I adore learning, I always have; but it’s time for a small break to really focus on myself.
That being said, here are my top 10 ways to relax, rewind, and remember your awesomeness this next week:
- Start with the basics, and breathe!!
I don’t always have a second to enjoy time just sitting…I mean, no phone, no timer to know when 3.8 minutes have passed because you’re on a tight schedule, no book, nothing. Just sit and breathe! You’ll be surprised how relaxing it is!
- Go to the gym!!
Endorphins make you happy, and happy people don’t kill their classmates, colleagues, coworkers, fill in the blank (thank you, Legally Blonde for the best advice).
- Crack open a book!
If you know me, you know I usually carry a book around with me. I prefer reading to Netflix (blasphemous?), mostly because there’s something about curling up in a cozy blanket with a cup of coffee, and reading stories that take you on adventures, fall in love, or give you a new perspective.
- Fresh flowers, everywhere!
- Eat the thing you’re not supposed to, because you’re on the diet you hate. Just have one cheat meal, just one. Life is all about balance!
- Surround yourself with people who make you laugh!
I mean the stomach-hurts-from-laughing kind of people. Life is too short to be serious all the time, and the old saying “laughter is the best medicine” is true more than ever!
- Explore!!
This one is a little difficult since we live in Lubbock, but take a road trip somewhere new – a new coffee shop, a new hiking spot, a festival, whatever you fancy, find it and live it!
- Make yourself some coffee!
Okay, okay, I’m a little biased on this one since I’m a coffee addict…but, make a cup. Don’t buy one. There’s something peaceful and almost therapeutic about the smell of the brew.
- Remember who you are.
This one is so, so important! As a college student, I have several identifiers and several people telling me who I should be and what I should do. They mean well, but I know best who I want to be. While it can be scary, I’m really trying to focus on what makes me authentic and surrounding myself with people who encourage it. (hint hint, this one will always be important)
- Don’t apologize for feeling an emotion!
I’m still learning this one, but it’ll relieve a lot of stress; while reminding you, after all, you’re human.
You best believe, I’ll be tackling most of these over the break! Especially exploring and laughter as I’ll be in the Grand Canyon with some of my favorite people! Be sure to check out our Instagram throughout next week for updates on the intern’s travels!!
Stay awesome,
MB
