Twitter is one of the most important social network platforms today. A business has a good chance of getting increased exposure through social networking, especially Twitter. With Twitter’s daily 100+ million active users, it can be overwhelming to get noticed. At the same time, if you play your cards right, you can gain 100’s, even 1000’s of followers. Below, you will read about common mistakes users make and how to fix them to take best advantage of Twitter’s platform.
1. Take advantage of Twitter’s free analytics.
One of the best tools available is Twitter’s own analytics tool. This tool is available for free with every twitter account registered. This tool allows you to review your tweet impressions, how many favorites you got, retweets, clicks, replies, you name it. It will even show you how many people followed or unfollowed you.
2. Create your own custom hashtag.
One thing I’ve noticed is that many people and businesses alike are afraid to start new hashtags. They don’t want to seem like the only ones using them. I completely understand the feeling. However, you should take full advantage of the opportunity. If you create your own custom hashtag, sooner or later, it will catch on. And if you’re lucky, it will start trending all over Twitter. It’s just a matter of time, putting in effort, and having patience.
3. People like images, so include images/collages to your tweets.
Going through your timeline, you’ll always notice that people are sharing photos or collages. Personally speaking, I tend to make a quick stop to those tweets that have images or galleries. In order to create collages, when you’re uploading photos on your tweet, keep adding the pictures and Twitter will automatically create the collage for you.
4. Follow and appreciate those that favorite and retweet your tweets.
Individuals who tend to favorite or retweet your tweets, there’s a high chance that they may become one of your most loyal followers today. Whenever someone appreciates your tweets, make sure to give them a shout-out, or favorite them back, or follow them back, pretty much anything that will show them you appreciate their time. If you continue to appreciate, there’s a high chance that you will gain followers quickly.
5. For blog posts, attach the featured image to your Twitter post.
On Twitter, people tend to stop by image tweets more often rather than just links and text. This is especially important if you’re a blogger. Whenever you’re writing a blog post and have a featured image, make sure to attach the featured image to the tweet(s) that go on Twitter. Additionally, a nicely designed featured image will get lots of favorites and retweets.
